The PTA12-100 can be connected to an aircraft audio controller or directly to an aviation headset or handset.

The PTA12-100's microcontroller controls the following functions: speech audio circuits, hook switch, ring indication, flash, hold, redial, serial data communications, backlighting, display, speed dial, Globalstar™ satcom status, DTMF tone generation and ringer audio generate. The speech audio circuits include a mic input amplifier and a phones output amplifier with front panel volume control.

• Two-wire POTS port achieves the interface to the satcom system transceiver
• Serial port allows for data communications to satcom systems
• Front panel keypad has backlighting provided
• LED dot matrix character display with brightness control
• Speed dial allows numbers to be stored and recalled from memory
• Indication of Globalstar™ satcom signal strength and system availability status provided by LED lit dead-front text on the front panel
• Compact Dzus mount dialer/adapter telephone interface with full function Touchtone keypad
• The PTA12-100 is designed to meet standard North American PSTN requirements, but nor recommended or approved for landline applications.
